Shape Up

We all have those things in life we can't live without... here are three of mine.
Let's get personal for a sec. I just think bras are super uncomfortable. I have a larger chest so it's tough to find shapewear that doesn't require a bra.
I have found 3 options that do the job: suck you in from the waist up, hold the girls in place, and last through frequent washing IN the washing machine. I am not interested in hand-washing my undergarments. There is just no time for that.
I feel like I am giving away the keys to the castle here, but I am here to spread the love (and you are going you to love)...

THE FLIP FLOP

It's about that time :: FLIP FLOP SEASON. The most wonderful time of the year (in the shoe world).
The TKEES are my personal fave. They are made well, have a padded sole and the gold color adds that little bit of extra oomph when I just want to wear jean/shorts and a tee.
You're going to pay a little bit more than the typical flip flop, but trust me, they are worth every penny.

SUNGLASS SEASON

I am clearly a huge fan of a simple outfit where the accessory is the finishing piece. Sunglasses are my quick go-to (other than jewelry of course) to complete a look. Plus, this
is a perfect choice when it's a minimal makeup day. I love the the Ray-Ban Aviator, but something about them just doesn't fit my face right. I think it's the scoop down that doesn't do it for me. I was turned on to the "New Classic" Aviator and they are AWESOME.
They are really flattering for a round face, which isn't always easy to find.

Now for the perfect pair of sunglasses for the girl who always breaks them: The TOMS Traveler. They are made from Solaflex, so they are super durable, and of course stylish.  Plus, they help support need-based community eye care program. Nothing better than a helping a cause and looking cute.

Best sunglasses for the price? The BP. "Langham" is an an awesome choice for trying out the thick-frame trend for only $12. Yes, $12.

The Boho trend is everywhere, but sometimes it's tough to find a great piece that the "everygirl" can incorporate into her wardrobe, without dressing completely outside of her comfort zone.
I recently just bought this top below, and if I could wear it every day, I would. It's comfy, cute and perfect for Spring/Summer.

Another addition to my personal Spring collection is this awesome bag. I originally bought it thinking  "pool tote" but it's quickly turning into my go-to bag for a daytime lunch with friends, running errands and more. It makes jeans and a tee look much better! Are you sensing my white/cream obsession here? And get this - IT'S ONLY $29! Hurry.

A LITTLE LIPSTICK GOES A LONG WAY

I find myself wearing a lipgloss just about every day, but then when I actually take the time to put on a little lip liner and simple lipstick I think to myself "why don't I do this every day?".
I like to keep the daytime look simple and neutral.

This is my go-to lipstick that works with every outfit, every season...

BABY SWAGGER

It's me again, Holly the AC techie guest blogging today! Since having a baby I have almost cared zero about looking cute. (Aside from attempting recently to get a "lob" haircut to try to remain edgy, but I won't go down that rabbit hole right now.)  Maybe the apathy is because my body now closely resembles a jello mold or maybe it's because a newborn just sucks out your give a damn. My idea of getting dressed up is changing into my "cute" jammies before my husband gets home so he can hopefully see a glimmer of the woman he once knew. I told him recently if we get rich enough for designer duds maybe I'll work harder on getting back my mojo. Nobody is motivated to lose lbs to squeeze into this season's Target romper. Shallow? Maybe, but he knew what he was getting into when he married this hot mess. In the mean time I have become completely obsessed with making my tiny human look as stylish as possible. While I stuff my jello belly into Gap yoga pants to leave the house, my baby girl is coming for you, North West. Each and every time. And lucky for me baby clothes are way cheaper than mommy clothes. I have included my fave baby girl looks of the moment below!  I'm not ignoring the boys, I just don't have one so I only troll the internet coveting lady baby fashion these days. But these retailers have tons of cute options for dude babies too so follow the links and look around!

Also for good measure I've included my fave Gap yoga pants with extra belly compression power - no joke they suck me right in around my mommy pooch and I love it. They somehow even give you a little inner thigh tuck. Who hates that? I know I don't!   And of course I couldn't leave out  the "cute" jammies I'm currently dressing up in. Extra Bonus - this jammy is super comf and great for maternity, birth, nursing, etc!

Happy shopping!

RED NOSE DAY

The AMAZING John Legend and Sam Smith have done a throw your hands up collaboration of Smith's "Lay Me Down", in honor of today's Comic Relief's Red Nose Day. This special day was created to help with the relief of famine in children.

What a moving reminder of the things most important in this world.

And we thought we couldn't love these two more...

NYFW #1

We are so happy to have the cute and stylish Katey McFarlan, author of the blog Chronicles of Frivolity, as our guest blogger today. We LOVED this look during her trip to NYFW. And of course it doesn't hurt that she layered up on the AC Spring line.

I brought my camera. Paid the over-weight bag fee and never even got to shoot! Fashion week was filled with back-to-back meetings that we even had to cancel going to some shows. Sometimes work wins over play. ;) So now I'm back in Dallas re-shooting these looks and I can't say I complain! This was my first look for fashion week and I felt so girly in it!

Layered necklaces with a midi skirt is such a great work ensemble to steer away form the standard silk top and blazer duo. This thin turtleneck has been worn twice a week for the past month! The '60s feel is something we all know I'm fans of, but I also love that it tones any look down with the polished look.

It's another "vinegar" piece that I swear closets need. Vinegar tones down anything spicy, duh. ;) I pair it with little printed shorts, tights and these booties

Thank you so much for stopping by! Xo. Katey

Blazing into Spring

I am obsessed with blazers. For me, they are the easiest, and fastest, way to add a big punch to a basic outfit (other than jewelry, of course).
The new cape-style blazer is amazing. I love this option below from Shopbop , plus they are having a big sale right now.
Now throw on your favorite jeans, a simple white tee and viola!

The Best Shoes for a Girls Night Out

I have to share my current shoe crush (are you sensing the shoe obsession yet?).

I bought these blue beauties because....
A. they are blue and fringy
B. they make a major statement without breaking the bank

Love them with jeans, love them with a LBD, love them with a white summer dress, and I love to sleep in them. OK, not really sleep in them but don't put it past me.
